ARSENAL Football Club invited a Little Sampford charity worker to be guest of honour at the club's celebration of 25 years of working in the community.
George Mills, who runs British Aid for Deprived Children, makes regular trips to the Ukraine with his wife Marion to offer aid and support to children in Chernigov.
His charity has been supported by Arsenal in the Community for nearly ten years. The club has visited Chernigov on several occasions to teach football to local volunteers and coaches.
Children in Chernigov are still suffering from the fallout of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. The Chernigov clinic, which is only 17 miles from the Chernobyl exclusion zone, regularly helps children born with spina bifida and cleft palate as a direct result of the disaster.
Mr Mills spoke of his experience of working with Arsenal FC at an event whose guests included manager Ars�ne Wenger, the club chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Arsenal players, Gael Clichy and Thomas Vermaelen.
