STAFF at a Newport Performing Arts school opened by Ian "H" Watkins have voiced their support for the Celebrity Big Brother star.

The former member of pop group Steps opened the Bedazzle performing arts school last September and has spent the last three weeks in the house.

Diane Jansen, principal of Bedazzle, said: "We are so proud of the way Ian is conducting himself.

"The alleged racial abuse that has been going on in the Big Brother house has been shocking, but Ian has stood his ground and been a great support to Shilpa.

"We're all rooting for him to win this year's show."

National publicity allegedly showing Bollywood film actress Shilpa Shetty being racially abused in the house over the last fortnight have led to unprecedented scenes, with residents of Shilpa's native India seen burning effigies of the show's producers, and the show even being brought up in parliament.

Celebrity Big Brother comes to an end on Sunday.
