Artwork by talented sixth form students at the County High will form an exhibition in Saffron Walden Library.

The Applied Art & Design course is a double A-level award, mostly studied by students who wish to pursue a career in art and design.

While the course introduces students to a wide range of practices, it has been designed to be delivered in a work-related context to develop understanding of the art and design sector.

The students started the year with a variety of workshops which developed a range of skills and ways of working, and they’ve recently finished a project based on the theme of ‘structures’ – each interpreted in an individual way. In this project students were able to choose their own focus and development area.

The range of outcomes that have been produced include oil painting, textiles pictures, printmaking and other pieces in a variety of scales.

The themes students have explored range from the human form to building structures, insects, birds, vegetation and the human eye. The exhibition continues until March 3.
