A BEST-SELLING author of children's books gave an entertaining talk to pupils at Friends' School in Saffron Walden.

As part of the Saffron Walden Literary Festival, author Kevin Crossley-Holland spoke to a group of Year 7 and 8 students from Friends' School and Saffron Walden County High School last week.

He delighted students with readings from his various books, humourous anecdotes and short witty stories.

Head of English at Friends' School, Gill Kinnnear, said: "Kevin Crossley-Holland is one of the most well respected writers for children and we were extremely fortunate to have him visit and perform.

"He entertained and inspired his audience who were fascinated to hear Anglo Saxon spoken as well as Middle English Latin."

The festival provided students in the town with a wonderful opportunity to hear from an author who has sold well over one million copies of his Arthurian trilogy worldwide.
