MEMBERS of the Saffron Walden Art Society showed off their work in the beautiful surroundings of the Jubilee Gardens on Saturday.

Art in the Bandstand gave people the chance to watch local artists at work and buy their paintings.

Committee member and organiser Deb Hume said: "It was a highly successful day and it was lovely to see so many people come to look at and appreciate the work of our members.

"Eight artists were at the event and all of them have their own unique style and approach to their art.

"Vic Avis, who paints beautiful scenes of Saffron Walden, including thatched cottages and historic buildings, was very successful on the day and got a few commissions."

The public were also treated to a chance to see the artists at work, as they painted while the sun shone.

"Our members are naturally artistic and so they had fun capturing the day in paint and giving people the opportunity to see them in action," said

Mrs Hume.

The society, which currently has 125 members, meets on the third Friday of every month at Saffron Walden County High School from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, and new faces are always welcome.

Another Art in the Bandstand event will be held at the Jubilee Gardens on August 26 starting at 10am.
