A RECORD breaking total of £1400 was raised for the parish church at Clavering's Christmas Bazaar on Saturday afternoon.

One of the helpers, Susan Hollingworth, said the day was a great success.

"It was a wonderful day and the wet weather didn't seem to deter people from coming along and supporting our annual event," she said.

"The Brownies and the Sunday School ran their stalls excellently, the cake makers from the village did us proud once again and Father Christmas paid us a visit and entertained the children."

"A tombola which guaranteed everyone a prize was popular and the adults enjoyed sampling the mulled wine and mince pies."

Mrs Hollingworth added: "The day could not have gone as well without the hard work of our chief organiser, Mien Ramuz, who really whipped us into shape.

"We're very fortunate to have lots of community support and involvement in local projects and events in Clavering, and this proved to be the case yet again on Saturday.
