THERE are only six weeks to go before the 42nd Cambridge Oxfam Walk sets out from the historic Chilford Hall.

And the organisers are looking for more teams to take part in the Oxfam Team Trophy.

The Cambridge Oxfam Walk is to be held on Sunday May 17, commencing from the hall. Routes vary between an easy-going four miles, suitable for the whole family, to a marathon 26 miles for more experienced walkers looking for a challenging day out.

The walk has one main objective - to raise vital funds for Oxfam's emergency fund, which is currently helping over one million people in Zimbabwe at risk from food shortages and spreading diseases such as malaria and cholera.

The Oxfam Team Trophy, sponsored by the Cambridge Building Society, brings a more competitive edge to the walk. But the challenge is not based on who can walk the furthest; it challenges your team to raise the most money for the people who need it most.

The team 'The Overtakers' have won the trophy for the last two years.

Member Neil Parker, who will be competing with the team again this year, said: "The Overtakers decided to walk and raise funds as a team for Oxfam because it's great to get together for a beautiful walk in the countryside for a charity we think is doing great work.

"We've all done the walk for many years now and our friends and work colleagues now expect to be asked for money for the Oxfam Walk! People know how committed we are to the walk and want to be part of it by supporting us financially."

If you and your friends or family think that you can take on The Overtakers this year to win the Oxfam Team Trophy, and prevent them from scoring a fundraising hat trick, you can register online at www.oxfam.org.uk/walk or phone 0300 200 1244.

Registration forms are also available in your local Oxfam shop.

Teams can be made up of five to 10 people and all participants must register separately.

All walkers are asked to raise 50 in addition to the entry fee to help us achieve a grand total of over 50,000 - which would bring the walk's fundraising total to over 900,000 over the 42 years.

It's easy to get to this year's walk. Stagecoach will be providing a free shuttle bus from the city centre, and free car parking is available at Chilford Hall. Entrance for children is free.

There are also refreshments available at various checkpoints along the routes and music and children's entertainments at the start and finish.
