MORE than £2000 raised by staff at a Saffron Walden builders' merchants has been presented to the children's unit at a village hospital.
Ian Newman and Sue Walker, who work at Ridgeons on Ashdon Road, co-ordinated several events over the festive season, including a traditional Christmas dinner and a tombola.
Thanks to the hard work and generous Christmas spirit of staff at the store, £2200 has now been presented to The Croft Child and Family Unit in Fulbourn.
Sharon Kenny, clinic nurse specialist, explained how the money would be used. "We are so pleased to have been chosen by the staff at Ridgeons, Saffron Walden, to receive this donation.
"We are very grateful to them for their efforts and will be using the money to equip a special relaxation room, to give parents a well-earned break, whilst their children are being cared for."
The Croft Child and Family Unit is an NHS residential service for children with mental health problems and their families. It provides intensive assessment and treatment for children with complex emotional, behavioural and social difficulties as well as working with parents to help them develop their parenting skills.
