Burglars dowsed a Saffron Walden home in liquid detergent after raiding it for cash and perfume.

Thieves broke into the house off Loompits Way between 9am on Saturday, September 12, and 4pm on Saturday, September 19.

Detective constable Chris Sedgwick, of Braintree CID, said: “They carried out a messy search of the bedroom and stole a three figure sum of cash and four bottles of Nina Ricci and Estee Lauder perfume.

“They also caused considerable damage by spraying laundry detergent over curtains, bedding, furniture and carpets throughout the property.

“I am keen to hear from witnesses who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area during the times the burglary is thought to have taken place.”
