BUSY Bees Pre-School in Wimbish had a well attended fundraising day last week, raising more than 150 to go towards a new indoor soft play area and sensory room for some of its youngest members.

The day was officially opened by Cllr Tina Knight and was also supported by Lt Col Simon Bell of 33 Royal Engineers.

Among the many fun activities were face painting, a huge chocolate fountain and a lucky dip.

To close the day there was a balloon release where each child had a chance to write a note, attached to a balloon, to their dads or a soldier serving in Afghanistan and watch them fly high up into the clouds, hopefully reaching Afghanistan soon.

A big thank you to Clinton Cards of Saffron Walden who made this happen by supplying the balloons and filling them with helium.

Busy Bees Pre-School is a registered charity pre-school based at Carver Barracks, Wimbish, but is open to all children from the local community, not just military families.

Any parents interested in receiving a prospectus or who would like to arrange a visit to the pre-school should contact the manager, Judy Brett on 01799 523542. The pre-school re-opens on September 6.
