Bereavement Cafes have been opened in Dunmow and Hastingwood to combat the isolation people feel after loss.

The cafes have been opened by St Clare Hospice. Sally Muylders, St Clare’s community manager, said: “We want to ensure that nobody in our community has to face this alone and that everybody knows their local hospice is here for them.”

Opening monthly at each location, the Bereavement Cafés will offer people a place to meet others who have had similar experiences over with tea and cake in a relaxed environment.

The Dunmow cafe is on the last Wednesday of the month from 10am to noon at Old Park Meadow, Coppice Lane, North End, Dunmow, CM6 3PL. Next one is March 27.

The Hastingwood cafe at St Clare, Hastingwood Road, Hastingwood, CM17 9JX will be on the third Friday of the month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Next one, March 15.
