EMERGENCY services were called after a rugby player suffered a cardiac arrest.
The East of England Ambulance Service received reports that a man in his late 30s had collapsed and was unconscious and not breathing. They were called to the scene at 4.33pm yesterday.
A rapid response vehicle was on scene in Cambridge Road Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, closely followed by an ambulance. The East Anglian Air Ambulance was also in attendance to give critical care support.
During the 999 call, bystanders were given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) advice and once on scene the crews worked hard to use advanced life-saving skills.
After being taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance, the patient was then taken to Papworth Hospital for specialist cardiac care.
Details of the man’s condition are unknown.
