A CAMPAIGNER has collected more than 200 signatures to try and stop a petrol station in Stansted Mountfitchet from being turned into housing.
An application to demolish the Total garage on the B1383 Cambridge Road has been submitted to Uttlesford District Council.
Petitioner Ray Woodcock said: "We don't want to lose another amenity; it's not just a petrol station it's a convenience store and a cash point.
"Also what they are planning to replace it with is an oppressive multi-storey building. If they allow this to be built, what will come next?"
Mr Woodcock will present his petition to councillors before they make a decision at a meeting of the development control committee on Wednesday (February 10).
