The M11 was shut for a number of hours last night (Monday) after a car burst into flames following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway at 9.45pm after three cars were involved in a collision near the Stansted junction.

Fire crews from Saffron Walden, Newport and Stansted extinguished the car, which was fully alight as the firefighters arrived.

The fire was extinguished by 10.50pm.

The M11 was still closed at 2am.
