WITNESSES are being sought after an Essex Police vehicle was damaged in Great Chesterford on Monday.

A Smart Car parked on the recreation ground in the village had its rear windscreen smashed between 9am and 10.15am, causing £500 of damage.

Saffron Walden PCSO Andy Davis discovered the damage when he returned from patrolling the area.

Police Sgt Ashley Seymour said: "It's extremely disappointing that when you have an officer patrolling the villages that someone takes it upon themselves to damage their property.

"We will now have to take this vehicle off the road and this will affect our ability to get out to the rural areas until the damage is repaired." Call police on 01799 513232 with details.
