FAIRIES, princesses and an evil biker took to the stage at the weekend in a pantomime at the Meadow School in Balsham.

The production of Sleeping Beauty, directed and written by amateur theatrical society BURPS member Sharon Clark, played to full houses.

Mrs Clark said: "It went very well, the children involved had a whale of a time and the audience really enjoyed it too.

"The pantomime featured a King and Queen, a princess, six good fairies and their lead fairy as well as the evil 'Buzz the Biker', who entertained the audience by singing We Will Rock You."

The cast of more than 40 included 32 children, most of whom were pupils at the Meadow Primary School.

Mrs Clark explained that BURPS was always looking for new members and that stagehands in particular would be welcomed.

"We would love to have new members, particularly practical people to help with backstage jobs.

"It's a fun organisation and a good social group and we're hoping to introduce trips to the theatre and other activities in the future."

Anyone who would like to become involved in the pantomime should contact Sharon or Nigel Clark on 01223 893043.
