In the first incident a woman had her purse stolen from inside her bag while she was in the Cancer Research UK shop in King Street.

The incident happened at around 3pm on October 10 when the victim, a woman aged in her 50s, was followed around the store by a white female, tall and of large build, who had brown hair but was wearing a hat. She wore a dark jacket, dark trousers and pumps and was carrying a metallic back pack.

The second incident saw a man force entry via a rear door to the St Clare’s Hospice shop in Mercers Row, at 2.40am on October 22.

A four-figure sum of cash was stolen from a safe.

The man was white with facial hair. He wore a hooded top and jacket.

Police want to speak to the people pictured in the CCTV in connection with the incidents.

Anyone with information should call Pc Rosie Emery at Braintree police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
