POLICE have released two CCTV images of a man suspected of stealing cash from a betting shop.
The thief escaped with more than £140 in coins after distracting a member of staff in the William Hill branch in Cross Street, Saffron Walden.
He played on machines in the shop, placed a few bets then went to the counter to ask for a cup of coffee. While the member of staff was looking away to make the drink the man reached over the counter, took a rack of coins and walked out of the shop.
The theft happened at about 9.20pm on December 16, but despite extensive enquiries and the images being circulated to three neighbouring counties the suspect cannot be identified.
Anyone with information should contact investigating officer, Pc Hannah Griffiths, at Saffron Walden police station on 101.
