HUNDREDS of fans gathered at Stansted Airport last night to greet Great Britain's latest boxing hero, David Haye.
Fresh after winning the world championship heavyweight belt in Germany, Haye arrived back at the Essex airport and was met with rapturous applause form a large crowd and media contingent.
He told onlookers that he was surprised by the reaction and that he only expected one or two friends to be at the terminal when he arrived.
Haye won his fight, which was screened live on the Sky Sports box office channel on Saturday night, on points after out-jousting the giant Russian boxer, Nikolay Valuev.
