Chesterford Research Park triathletes raise over 1,000 for Cancer Research UK

A GROUP of gym members from Chesterford Research Park have raised over 1,000 for charity following a triathlon event.

David Donald, Onkar Shoker and Stephen Coles, all from Illumina whose headquarters is located at the park, competed in the London Triathlon alongside the park’s gym manager Noel Cooper.

The annual event was held at London’s ExCeL Centre and consisted of a 750m open water swim, 20km bike and 5km run. The park team completed the gruelling course in respectable times ranging from 1hr 42mins to 2hrs 7mins.

Mr Donald, a network systems administrator, said “It felt like quite an intimidating challenge – although the individual distances were not that far, the thought of doing all three in quick succession was no easy feat.

“The swim was the most challenging section for me, trying to navigate through so many other swimmers at once was an experience.”
