Youngsters at the Thaxted United Reformed Church took part in an Easter treasure hunt on Saturday (March 19) to mark the start of Holy Week.
Children were asked to look for clues in and around the church, looking for letters that made up the Easter greeting, peace be with you, from John, chapter 20, verse 19. Once they had found the greeting, they were each given a prize of an Easter egg.
There were also craft activities, coffee and cake.
Alison Jiggins, who organised the treasure hunt, said: “Thirty-three children took part and it went very well. We have been trying to make the church more of a community space and we have taken out seven rows of pews to give us more space for activities so it was good to see that in action.”
