A group of fathers from Clavering are getting on their bikes to raise money for new facilities at Clavering Primary School. The intrepid riders will be biking 270 miles from Clavering Primary School in Hartlepool to their home territory of Clavering Primary School in Essex. One of the riders, Jonathan Hill, said: “The project will leave lasting benefits for the school and children. The transport, logistics and accommodation are all self-funded so every penny is going to the school.”
From Saturday, September 5, the fundraising fathers will undertake the three-day trip to raise money to revamp and update the playground, establish a wildlife area and enhance the orchard, and build an all-weather outdoor surface.
Dominic Crabb, one of the other dads, said: “At the moment as soon as it starts raining the kids can’t use the school field and they have to stay inside or play on the hard surface area.” The nine fathers; Dominic Crabb, Jonathan Hill, Ross McNaughton, Craig Dyce, Nick Westoby, Paul Dyster, Jonathan Hood, Paul Birch and Tom Macfadyen will have a support team of two. So far the bold bikers have raised £2,045 towards their £10,000 target.
