A Clavering woman is set to cycle 100km through the streets of central London at night with a friend to race money for three cancer charities.

Berry Sharp and Amanda Gover, from Widford, will take on the challenge alongside 3,000 other female cyclists in the Women V Cancer Ride the Night event on Saturday, May 28.

The close friends have worked together for 24 years running a livery yard in Furneux Pelham and have so far raised around £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

The circular 100km (62 mile) route starts and finishes at Royal Windsor Racecourse and takes on many of the capital’s famous landmarks.

Berry said: “We’re very excited about riding through the streets of London at night, and initially that was the main reason we wanted to take part in the event.

“But since entering, it really struck us just how many people had been affected by cancer, including friends and clients. So we are riding the race to raise as much money as possible for anybody who has been affected or who may need help.”
