TWO Saffron Walden clubs joined up to raise funds for the town's community hospital League of Friends.

Saffron Walden Lions Club and Abbey Lane Bowls Club held a successful Big Screen Race Night earlier this month. The event raised an impressive £853

A Lions Club spokesman said: "We would like to thanks all the race and horse sponsors for their generous support on the night."

Saffron Walden Community Hospital League of Friends secretary, Dorothy Bartlett, received the cheque from Frank Mason of the Abbey Lane Bowls Club and Glenys Withers of the Lions Club.
