Conservative Nick Alston wins Essex police and crime commissioner election

CONSERVATIVE Nick Alston is the new police and crime commissioner for Essex.

Mr Alston, from Chelmsford, polled 62,350 votes, fending off the challenge of independent Mick Thwaites (58,664 votes).
