Caring Sixth Formers presented a cheque for more then £1,000 to the manager of a counselling service in Saffron Walden on Thursday, March 16.
Students from Saffron Walden County High School who organised the annual Christmas variety show, which raised a total of £2,527 for two local charities, presented the fruits of their labour to the manager of Open Door Counselling Service.
Open Door was founded in 1997 to provide free and confidential counselling and advice to young people aged 13 to 26 years.
The service is based at the Adult Community Learning Centre in Fairycroft Road, but serves the whole of Uttlesford.
A team of counsellors offer their services on a voluntary basis so that young people can access counselling free of charge.
Pam Jenner, manager at Open Door, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive such a wonderful donation from the students at the County High School. We rely on the generosity of the local community for our survival because we get no regular funding from statutory organisations.”
