YOUNG artists from Duxford saw their masterpieces displayed alongside the work of experienced painters at a school exhibition which raised £1000 on Friday.

The Christmas art fair at Duxford Church of England Community Primary School, allowed pupils to see their creations in a professional setting.

PTA chairman Sheridan Tongue said: "The exhibition was a great success and the 12 local artists all said it had given them a real buzz.

"The children took part in the fair by creating artwork in different mediums, including dyed fabrics, photography, drawing and computer-generated art.

"I think they were all given a real confidence boost and were inspired to see their art presented in a professional manner alongside adults' work."

The school received 20 per cent commission on all artwork sold, and the £200 will go towards a new outdoor classroom.

The school intends to buy a wooden seating structure to enable children to have their art and music classes outside in the warmer months.
