CUBS and Scouts helped tidy up the town on the Saffron Walden Initiative's fourth annual Summer Clean Up last Monday night - by finding a shopping trolley!
Girl Guides, the First Saffron Walden Girls' Brigade and a host of volunteers collected rubbish and a trolley at the event.
Organiser Helen Larsen said: "The enthusiasm of everyone to get out there and clean up was very inspiring. However, the litter pick always leaves us with mixed feelings. It is very satisfying to see the mountain of rubbish and recyclables that we have collected, but it is sad to see just how much litter is dropped in the town.
"It was great to see more members of youth groups turn up to help than before."
Uttlesford District Council recycling officer, Russell Clarke, also joined in the litter pick and supplied litter grabbers, bags and recycling boxes.
