POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 23-year-old cyclist died following a collision with a car in Sible Hedingham yesterday evening (Sunday).
The incident happened on Swan Street, near to the junction with Cambridge Road.
The cyclist, from the local area, was travelling towards Halstead when he was in collision with a Ford Fiesta being driven by a 20-year-old man from the Halstead area, who was travelling in the same direction.
Ambulance crews treated the cyclist at the scene before he was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, in a critical condition but sadly died this morning. His family were at his bedside.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident and anyone with information is asked to telephone the Serious Collision Investigation unit on 101 or e-mail collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
