A COLLISION between a cyclist and a car led to a 58-year-old woman being airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries.

The woman was riding her bicycle along the B1051 near Thaxted when she was involved in a collision with a blue Citroen Xsara Picasso, shortly before 8.30am on Sunday.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "The air ambulance, a land crew and rapid response vehicle were called to the accident at about 8.22am.

"They found the woman had suffered a dislocated left shoulder, and injuries to her collarbone, arm and head.

"The woman was made more comfortable before being taken by the air ambulance to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow for further treatment.

"The driver of the car was uninjured.
