A group of nine dads have raised more than £15,000 for charity after cycling from Clavering Primary School in Hartlepool to its Essex namesake over three days last weekend.

The riders began the 280 mile journey south on Saturday, September 5, and were cheered home by Clavering pupils as they arrived back into the playground at the Essex school on Monday, September 7 at 3pm.

Money raised from the Clavering to Clavering ride will go to improving outside areas of the school, as well as other projects that the board of governors are keen to develop.

Rider Dominic Crabb, 43, said: “It was hard work, but everyone did really well. We originally wanted to raise around £10,000, but have managed to go well above that target. It’s great that the money will be going to the outside space at the school to keep the children active.”

Headteacher Ros Allsop said: “We would like to thank the team for all the hard work and time they have given to the cycling event, which has raised an amazing amount of money to develop our outside area for the benefit of our pupils.”
