Date set for Christmas lights switch-on in Saffron Walden

THE annual Christmas Lights Switch-On in Saffron Walden is taking place this year on Tuesday November 27 at 4pm.

Saffron Walden Town Council would like to invite everyone to the Market Place to see the mayor and winner of the Christmas Parcel Competition switch on the lights from the balcony of Beales. Father Christmas will be there to add to the occasion and he will be giving away sweets to the children.

A council spokesman said: “Come and join in the fun and excitement of this seasonal celebration. The market stalls will still be open and friends and family can do a little Christmas shopping at the same time.”

All schools have been invited for children to make and decorate a parcel for the Town’s Christmas tree at the top of the High Street. Parcels are to be taken to the Town Hall for judging by the mayor. The deadline is November 19. Contact your child’s school for more details, or the town council office in Emson Close.
