Detectives have appealed for witnesses following a burglary at Clavering.

Officers were called on Friday (January 17) after a resident at Colehills Close arrived home to find that thieves had broken in.

The burglary is believed to have happened at any time between Monday January 13 and 7.40pm on Friday.

A quantity of jewellery and other items were taken after intruders broke in through a rear window.

In a second 999 call from the Clavering area at about 5.05pm on Friday a resident at Starling’s Green reported two people seen in suspicious circumstances in a garden.

Officers from Essex and Hertfordshire carried out a widespread search of the area but the suspects escaped from the area. Enquiries are continuing.

Extra patrols are being carried out following a series of burglaries in the area over Christmas.

Anyone with information about the two incidents, on Friday, should contact officers at Braintree CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
