POLICE are linking a distraction burglary and an attempted distraction burglary, which occurred in Littlebury and Radwinter on Friday afternoon.

A man, claiming to be from the water board, gained entry to the homes in both instances, while another man searched the homes.

Nothing was stolen from the home of an 89-year-old lady in Church Walk, Littlebury at just after 1pm.

But £200 was taken from the bungalow of a 62-year-old man in East View Close, Radwinter.

One of the men is described as in his early 20s, 6ft tall and was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.

The other man was also in his

early 20s and 6ft tall. He was clean shaven, had short black hair and

was wearing a multicoloured t-shirt and white trainers.

Insp Kevin Wakefield said: "We are linking them as it was the same ruse used on both occasions."

Anyone with information should call DC Lyndon Holt or DC Mick Bennett at Saffron Walden Police Station on 01799 513232.
