MORE than 100 students from the 'class of 2010' returned to Linton Village College (LVC) to receive their GCSE certificates and awards.

There was an atmosphere of celebration as the year group had achieved the best GCSE results in LVC’s history, with over 90 per cent of students gaining five A* to C grades.

Prizes were given to the best students in each subject and the Principal’s Award for outstanding service to the college went jointly to Charlie Johnson and Barnaby Palmer.

The prizes were given out by Max McMurdo, a successful entrepreneur who made his name by appearing on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den and now runs an eco-furniture company creating funky household objects out of recycled shopping trolleys and bath tubs.

LVC spokesman Tony Kelly said: “Max was an entertaining and inspiring speaker and a particularly good choice given that LVC is a specialist business and enterprise college.”

Musical entertainment was provided by Penny Ardley and Keana Garnett, two members of the ‘class of 2010’.
