A young man had to be cut free from his car after a crash on the outskirts of Saffron Walden last night (Wednesday).

Firefighters from Saffron Walden were called to Debden Road at 5.10pm following a head-on collision between two vehicles.

The driver had been cut free by 6.20pm.

An ambulance, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and a rapid response vehicle was sent to the scene. Paramedics treated two people, one had minor injuries and was discharged at the scene.

The driver who had been cut free sustained leg and facial injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.
