Driver done for careless driving after lorry crashes into Newport railway bridge

A lorry driver has been reported for careless driving after crashing into Newport railway bridge this morning (Tuesday).
Police were called at 8am after the HGV got stuck under the bridge over Cambridge Road.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Officers attended and Network Rail was contacted to assess any damage to the bridge.
“There was no damage to the bridge and the lorry was removed by 9.15am.
“A 46-year-old man from Leicester was reported for careless driving and offered the option to complete a driving course, which he accepted.”
