Dunmow teenager arrested in connection with Uttlesford vehicle thefts released on bail

A Dunmow teenager arrested in connection with a number of vehicle crimes in Uttlesford and Braintree has been bailed by police.
A 17-year-old boy and a 56-year-old man from Dunmow were arrested after police officers carried out a raid yesterday (Sunday).
The teenager was subsequently released on bail until December 29 and the 56-year-old man has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Officers from the Braintree and Uttlesford community policing team and the force support unit at Essex Police executed a search warrant in Dunmow in relation to vehicle crime in the surrounding areas.
The team searched the premises and recovered a number of suspected stolen tools, a stolen van and seized a number of wraps of suspected Class A and B drugs along with a four-figure sum of cash.
A vehicle which had allegedly been seen at a number of incidents was also seized.
The 17-year-old boy from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of seven counts of theft from a motor vehicle and five counts of interfering with a motor vehicle.
The 56-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.
Sergeant Tom Bastendorff, of Essex Police, said: “We are determined to seek justice for the innocent and hardworking people who have had their vehicles broken into. We want to reassure the public that we are working round the clock to gather intelligence on suspects and are taking action in relation to these offences.”
