A BREAKDOWN in talks over landing fees could see EasyJet deserting its Luton base and moving several of its planes to Stansted Airport.
The budget airline is in talks with Luton Airport over plans to raise landing charges. If an agreement cannot be reached then some of its planes could be moved to Gatwick and Stansted.
EasyJet currently has plans to expand its operations at Luton, but this could be dropped if the airport does not lower its charges.
The move follows a decision by Ryanair to cut the number of planes operating from Stansted Airport by 40 per cent between October and March.
Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary blamed the cutback on high airport charges and the increase in the tourist tax.
