EIGHT sheep were killed after a fire broke out in farm buildings in Clavering.

Firefighters were called to the farm at Roast Green at 3.34pm on Saturday and the officer in charge reported that the buildings were 100 per cent alight.

Crews from Saffron Walden, Newport and Stansted wore breathing apparatus and used one main jet and three hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

The farmer also helped put the barn fire out with a tractor. It was extinguished by 5.50pm.

An investigation into what caused the fire has been launched by Essex Fire Service.
