Heidi Allen has been voted in as MP for South Cambridgeshire.

Conservative candidate Ms Allen, secured 31,454 votes in yesterday’s election. Labour’s Daniel Greef came second with 10,860 votes, third was Liberal Democrat Sebastian Kindersley.

Marion Mason, of UKIP, with 6,010, was fourth and the Green candidate, Simon Saggers, finished fifth, with 3,848 votes.

Ms Allen has replaced Andrew Lansley as the constituency’s Parliamentary representative after the former Health Secretary stepped down this year.

All parties, save for Lib Dem’s Mr Kindersley, increased their number of votes from 2010. The Conservative vote increased from 27,995, as did Labour’s, which was 6,024 five years ago, Mr Sagger’s 1,039 and the UKIP vote of 1,873.

The number of ballots papers that were rejected was 259.

There was a small decrease in the turnout, down to 73.37 per cent from 74.9 in 2010.
