The winning candidates in the Thaxted and The Eastons ward for Uttlesford District Council are Martin Foley and John Freeman.
Councillor Foley said: “I feel very pleased. I’m particularly pleased because there’s been a boundary change to include the Eastons, where residents don’t know us so well.
“To be able to hold the Lib Dem seat is very good. There’ll be a small number of us but we’ll be working with residents groups on the Local Plan and other issues.”
