Elsenham golf course was in full swing as four golfers spent 16 hours on the green in aid of MacMillan Cancer Care.

The foursome, otherwise dubbed as the ‘Fantastic Fore Ball’, managed to raise an impressive £1,000 for the charity after playing 72 holes in ‘The Longest Day Golf Challenge’.

Starting at 5am, the friends from Elsenham Golf Club were not short of support; fellow club members were on hand throughout the day with food and drink to help the players refuel.

One of the golfers, Martin Senior, 57, said: “It was absolutely exhausting. I do not think any of us have played more than two rounds a day before.

“I did not want to play golf for a few days afterwards, but I will be back at the weekend.”
