After raising £2,800 for the Poppy Appeal, by knitting and selling poppies Elsenham WI received a certificate of appreciation from the Royal British Legion.

The honour was presented to Moyra Jackson, Elsenham WI president by Darren Fuller, Essex Community Fundraiser for the Legion. Mr Fuller spent 20 years in the parachute regiment, losing his right arm while serving in Afganistan in 2008. He said he received superb support from the Royal British Legion at the time and now works on their behalf to raise funds so that their work can continue.

Mrs Jackson said: “I was particularly delighted to receive this certificate from Darren. His story was both courageous and inspirational. We plan to continue our fundraising by knitting and selling more poppies for the Royal British Legion in 2016.”
