A SIX foot python that escaped a house fire has been found.
Firefighters found the snake in the roof of the property - The RSPCA found the snake in the back garden of the property in Henham. it fell into the garden as firefighting operations were taking place. It is now in the care of the RSPCA.
The fire started around 5.15am this morning (Sept 17). Nine crews from eight stations, including Saffron Walden, Dunmow, Stansted, Newport and Thaxted, were called to Pledgdon Farm after reports of a thatched house was on fire.
Upon arrival firefighters reported that the roof was 100 per cent alight and the first floor was 50 per cent on fire.
The fire was extinguished by 11.30am. The cause is unknown at this stage but ECFRS and the police will carry out an investigation.
