STANSTED Airport has once again voted not to send corporate Christmas cards, and instead donate money to a local charity.

Rather than sending thousands of festive cards to workers, bosses at the Essex hub asked staff which local good cause they would like the 1350 budget for cards to be donated to - and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust won the vote.

Herts coordinator for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust Nikki Caborn said: “We were delighted to find out we had been chosen by Stansted Airport to receive a donation in lieu of sending staff Christmas cards. It really was such a nice surprise to receive 1350, a great present for both Essex and Herts in time for Christmas.

“We would like to thank all Stansted Airport staff for their continued support over the last 12 months and we wish them all a Happy Christmas.”

Stansted Airport’s corporate social responsibility manager Marcella M’Rabety said: “Sending Christmas cards each year adds up to a considerable sum and we felt the money could be put to better use elsewhere. The Essex and Herts Ambulance came top of a recent staff poll, and we’re thrilled to lend our support to such a worthy cause.”

In previous years, donations have also been made to Together in West Essex (a breast cancer charity), the Animal Rescue Charity in Bishop’s Stortford and, last year, Help for Heroes.
