ESSEX County Council leader Lord Hanningfield is to face criminal charges over his expenses claims it was announced this morning (Friday).
According to a statement released by Keir Starmer, director of public prosecutions, the Conservative peer is to face charges under the Theft Act.
The charges allege that he dishonestly submitted claims for "expenses to which he knew he was not entitled", including overnight stays in London.
