Nineteen firefighters have been working alongside the East of England Ambulance Service paramedics during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service firefighters have helped to respond to more than 2,350 emergency calls, through 4,702 hours.
ECFRS driving instructors have trained student paramedics, army personnel and Community First Responders, enabling 27 more drivers to help the Ambulance Service.
Fire stations across the county have been used by the Ambulance Service during rest breaks.
Chief Fire Officer Jo Turton said: “I am so proud of our colleagues working to support the East of England Ambulance Service, the work that they are doing is incredible and we’ve had nothing but fantastic feedback about the difference they are making.
“I’m delighted that we can support the Ambulance Service and help Essex residents as much as possible during the pandemic.”
