FIVE people safely escaped their Little Chesterford home as a kitchen fire threatened to engulf it on Sunday morning.
Fire crews from Saffron Walden were called to the three-storey property on Walden Road around 10.40am.
Wearing four sets of breathing apparatus and using two hose reel jets, crews had extinguished the fire by 11.15am. Crews remained at the scene a further 20 minutes ventilating to clear smoke.
The five people, and two dogs, had no injuries.
