THE cost of providing police support during last year’s mass eviction at Dale Farm has been revealed.

Essex Police have said the bill for Operation Cabinet, the policing response to Basildon Borough Council’s work to clear plots at the Dale Farm travellers’ site, in Crays Hill, runs to 2.37m.

This figure will be presented to the Essex Police Authority’s Finance and Audit Committee on January 30.

The force is expected to release a breakdown of the cost by this date.
